Fundraising Regulator logo

The Fundraising Regulator has just launched a new digital fundraising badge, designed to help charities and fundraising organisations showcase their commitment to legal, open, honest, and respectful fundraising practices.

The digital fundraising badge is a clickable, trust-building marker that sits on your website and links straight to your listing on their public directory.

It’s a simple, effective way to show donors that your organisation meets the UK’s standards for ethical, transparent fundraising. Over 200 charities have already signed up, and it’s designed to work just like the badges used by other UK regulators, such as the ICO and the CMA.

In a world where trust is everything, especially online, this little badge could make a big difference.

What is the digital fundraising badge?

The new badge is a digital version of the Fundraising Regulator’s existing print badge. While you might already use the logo on things like charity bags or printed leaflets, this one is made specifically for the web.

It links directly to your organisation’s entry on the Fundraising Regulator’s public directory, confirming that you're registered and committed to following the Code of Fundraising Practice.

As Daisy Houghton, Head of Communications and Corporate Services at the Fundraising Regulator, put it:

“By displaying the digital fundraising badge, you show your dedication to upholding the highest standards in fundraising practice.”

Why it matters for your charity website

Trust is one of the biggest drivers of online donations. According to the CAF UK Giving Report 2025, 31% of people said they are more likely to donate to a charity if it’s clear how their money is being used, and 25% look for signs that the charity is well-regulated before giving.

This badge helps tick both of those boxes. It can also:

  • Reassure first-time visitors that your charity is legitimate

  • Show existing supporters that you’re transparent and accountable

  • Add credibility to your website’s donation pages

And let’s be honest, it looks professional too. I love a good badge.

How to get and add the badge

It only takes a few minutes:

  1. Log in to your Fundraising Regulator account

  2. Add your website domain (this links your site to your directory listing)

  3. Visit the Get Your Digital Badge page

  4. Choose the badge style that suits your site, i personally like adding it to the website footer.

  5. Copy and paste the HTML code into your website

That’s it. no developer required. And don’t worry if you're still using the printed version. It’s sticking around for things like direct mail, email signatures, street fundraising materials and printed ads.

My two pence as a web designer

I really like this move, and not just because it looks neat. From a web design and digital strategy point of view, this badge offers something particularly valuable: a high-authority backlink.

Because the badge links back to your listing on the Fundraising Regulator’s public directory, and vice versa it helps boost your website’s credibility in the eyes of Google. And when it comes to search engine rankings, quality backlinks from trusted sources are gold dust.

In short, it’s a small visual tweak that can quietly do big things for your online visibility.
