Pantone's 2025 Colour of the Year: Mocha Mousse

Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025, Mocha Mousse, feels like luxury without the effort. It’s rich, warm and quietly indulgent, the kind of colour that doesn’t shout about itself but still manages to feel deeply considered. Like 2024’s Peach Fuzz, it sits in that gentle space of calm, understated design, where softness and sophistication meet without trying too hard.

There’s something almost edible about it. Smooth, comforting, familiar. It brings to mind coffee in a quiet moment, melted chocolate, warm wood, soft fabrics. It’s sensory in a subtle way, which is part of what makes it so effective in design.
Compared to sharper neutrals, it feels less clinical. Compared to bolder tones, it feels more grounded. It sits comfortably in the middle, which makes it incredibly versatile across layouts, backgrounds, and supporting palettes.
Like Peach Fuzz before it, it reflects a broader shift towards softer, more human-centred design choices. These elegant colours feel lived-in rather than polished to perfection.
Used thoughtfully, Mocha Mousse doesn’t dominate a design but rather adds depth, warmth, and a quiet sense of luxury that feels more about feeling than performance. And sometimes, that understated confidence is exactly what good design needs.
